Wellgosh was established in 1988 in Silver Arcade, Leicester UK, originally specialising in sourcing vintage and original clothing. As the British rave and acid house scene began to take hold, Wellgosh began to cater for a young and engaged audience, sourcing deadstock trainers such as Puma State, Nike Cortez and Adidas Campus, then adding selected designer brands to the mix as its early identity began to form. As part of the of the first wave of UK multi-brand independent stores, Wellgosh forged strong links with the local and wider art and music communities as it became a hub for a growing set of fashion-conscious, brand savvy consumers that were keen to be at the forefront of the scene.
With the early introduction of a webstore in 1996, Wellgosh began to cater for an international audience and its brand mix became skate and street focussed. With top tier Adidas, Nike, New Balance and Asics at the forefront of its elevated offering, Wellgosh gained a reputation for stocking high quality products from brands that resonated and appealed to its growing audience. Having played a major role in the development and growth of a vibrant clothing and sneaker culture, Wellgosh was responsible for introducing such iconic brands as Stussy, Supreme, Carhartt, Palace and Jordan to a UK and worldwide audience.
Wellgosh today continues to curate and showcase an impressive collection of the most important and culturally relevant brands out there. It continues to push boundaries, innovate and retain a creative edge. With impressive city centre stores in Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham, and with a major online presence, Wellgosh has become firmly established as a major destination store for the world’s finest elevated street, skate and sneaker brands.
