Mastercard SecureCode (or 3D Secure) is an added layer of security for online card transactions. A private code
known only to you and your bank helps protect you against unauthorized use of your card. In simple terms, chip
and pin online.
IS THAT THE 3 DIGIT NUMBER ON THE BACK OF MY CARD?
Mastercard SecureCode should not be confused with the security code (CV2) printed on the back of your credit or
debit card.
WHICH OF MY CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS DOES IT APPLY TO?
Mastercard SecureCode applies to your Maestro and Mastercard. Verified by Visa is a similar initiative for all
Visa transactions.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Simple really. Select your payment type and enter your card details as normal during the checkout process. If
you opt to pay using Mastercard or Maestro, enter your card details and click 'confirm and pay'. You will be
taken to the next step where you will be asked to enter your secure passcode before the order is completed. If
you have not registered your card previously you will be prompted to activate the service and set up a passcode.
WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO REGISTER?
If you have not registered previously you can still place your order without activating the service. Click the
'cancel' link and your order will still be submitted however please note that we cannot guarantee that it will
be accepted unless you created and use a Securecode passcode.
I'M STILL NOT SURE. CAN I USE ANOTHER METHOD OF PAYMENT?
Of course. Wellgosh only currently request the Mastercard SecureCode when you are using Maestro so you can use any
credit or debit card (other than Maestro) or PayPal to place your order.
